Teagasc Forestry E-Newsletter Launched by Minister of State McEntee

Shane McEntee, TD, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine with responsibility for forestry, recently launched Teagasc Forestry’s new e-Newsletter in the Department’s office at Agriculture House, Dublin. The event was to mark the publication by Teagasc’s Forestry Development Department of its first Forestry e-Newsletter, a free electronic newsletter that will be circulated to signed-up subscribers and will provide updates on forestry issues, Teagasc forestry events and general forestry information. The Forestry Development Department of Teagasc provides, with support from the Forest Service of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, a programme of forestry advisory, promotion and training services to the farm forestry sector. Welcoming the publication of the Teagasc Forestry e-newsletter, Minister of State McEntee stated that “this initiative is a continuation of the excellent work that the Teagasc Forestry Development Department is doing to promote forestry and address the information needs of a growing complement of forestry owners” and added that the Forestry e-newsletter will be an invaluable source of up-to-date information to help forest owners effectively manage their plantations.

Noting this is the first such e-Newsletter from Teagasc, he commented “While the preparation of the content will still require time and staff resources, the circulation of the newsletter electronically will both expedite the availability of the information and reduce circulation costs”. Minister of State McEntee concluded by thanking Teagasc for its continued active involvement in the development of the Irish forestry sector and wished the Authority success with this new information resource.
