Title: Tulsk Priory Conservation Project
Abstract: Roscommon County Council requires the services of a competent Grade 1 Conservation Architect to assemble a Project Team experienced in the preparation of Conservation Design Proposals for Medieval masonry ruins and progressing the Conservation Proposals through to the tender procedure for Construction, Supervision of the Conservation Works and final reporting to Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht in accordance with the requirements of the National Monuments Acts 1930-2004 and the European Communities (Natural Habitats) Regulations, 1997-2011.The objective of Roscommon County Council is to develop Conservation Design Proposals and deliver the proposals to conserve the upstanding masonry ruins of Tulsk Priory over a specified period within nine months of the acceptance of the tender for the development of the Conservation/Preservation Design. ‘Tulsk Gaelic Medieval Complex, Conservation Management Plan’ (CMP) was prepared for Roscommon County Council by Gifford. Appendix 2 of this CMP details Tulsk Priory conservation works identified at that time. Two severe winters have since impacted on the priory site. Therefore Roscommon County Council require that the conservation works are reviewed and a new schedule of works, achievable within one season of work, is prepared and implemented, to ensure the stability and survival of the masonry ruins and associated mausolea.
