It isn't over yet!...

Summer doesn't officially draw to a close until 23rd September the Autumn Equinox but the Summer this year has been so changeable that it hardly feels as if the woolies have been put away before it is time to get them out again! Without doubt a disappointing summer from a sales point of view, it's a difficult business when sales are governed by the vagaries of the Great British Weather - not reliable at the best of times!

But, with true British spirit we make the best of what we can and we can help you do just that.

The Colour your Life campaign has lots of tools and materials to help you brighten up a bad sales day, and all of it completely free of charge so there's nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Ideal trees - Perfect for Patios!

Ideal tree Ideal Tree

Our ‘ideal garden trees’ focus this month includes a number of trees that are perfect for growing in smaller spaces. This is perfect for those modern gardens that go with so many new houses as well as patio gardens, courtyards and even on terraces.

Our plant choices this month include Prunus, Robinia and Catalpa. Each of these will work in these situations and all bring their specific added value. Prunus or cherry offers blossom, bark and fruit. Robinia bears fabulous pea-like flowers and Catalpa handsome foliage with different colour options.

The aesthetic side remains of great importance in the ‘make you want to buy me’ stakes. The blossom, fruit and foliage that come with these species are selling points that great POS, in-store merchandising and effective sales staff will maximise.

So much to tell and so easy to sell! Use our fascinating facts and QR codes to generate interest and give that little bit extra. Make use of POS materials available through the Colour your Life website and remember as always there is a consumer media push going on this month which is supported by activities on social media (which reaches over 2000 people and growing!), so customer awareness is likely to be high.

And the winner is...

Plantiarium is the key nursery trade event of the year in Holland. Held in Boskoop in the heart of the nursery region of the country, Plantarium attracts over 300 exhibitors from Holland and beyond. This year's show as held between August 22 and 25 and as part of the event the judging for the Plantarium Colour your Life award took place.

The winner was Buddleja 'Lilac Chip' - a dwaf form of the popular 'butterfly bush'. Reaching a height and spread of only 50cm this is truly compact and bearing fragrant lilac flowers from June to September it is sure to bring in butterflies and other beneficial insects to the garden.

The decision for the winner of the Colour your Life Plantarium Award was based on a Facebook vote.
