There will be shock and sadness in the garden centre sector in Ireland as Hosford’s Garden Centre Operating for 32 Years Enters Liquidation. It will have a negative ripple effect for the whole sector, not to mention John himself, his family, employee's and suppliers. There should be more information available after the creditor’s meeting that has been scheduled for today in the Castle Hotel, Macroom. We will bring you a press release after the meeting has taken place.
On a more positive note the GCAI & GIO Welcome WindyRidge as a New Member. The Harvey brothers are making great headway in developing and giving a new lease of life to this long established business.
In International Garden Centre Conference Report by Mike Neary (Bord Bia) gives an insight into what is happening in the garden centre sector in Europe. He points out "that an interesting element of the congress was a visit to the facility where the German garden centre association operate a joint online shop for its members." Bord Bia will also be busy with planning for the upcoming 2014 International Gardencentre Congress that will take place in Ireland.

We had the pleasure of spending a few hours yesterday with the 'always upbeat and lets get on with it' John Stanley. He will be visiting a wide range of garden centre's around Ireland imparting his much needed knowledge. Its tough out there but what else would we all be doing?
