Landscaping Included in 'Finance Bill' Construction Boost Measures

The Finance Bill giving effect to the measures announced in last week's Budget has been published this afternoon and contains great news for landscape contractors.

The key amendments in the Fiannce Bill from the Budget are:

´Residential premises´ means land which the occupier of a building or part of a building used as a dwelling has for the occupier's own occupation and enjoyment with that building or that part of a building as its garden or grounds of an ornamental nature.
´Contractor´ means a person engaged by an individual to carry out qualifying work - all references in the Budget speech to window-fitting, plumbing, tiling and plastering, etc have been deleted
The work must commence on after 25 October 2013 and be carried out during 2014 and 2015 - i.e it applies immediately, grom today, not 1st January next
The ALCI has been lobbying Government at every opportunity for the last 3 years for the introduction of such a measure. In our meeting with Minister Hayes last Tuesday we impressed on him the need to include the above 3 critical measures in the Finance Bill. All 3 have been included.

ALCI members are in prime position vis a vis "cash merchants" to benefit from these measures.
