The RDS is delighted to act as venue host to a one day symposium on Bird Habitats in Ireland as part of the RDS Speaker Series. The symposium has the support of a number of organising bodies including BirdWatch Ireland, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, University College Cork and the British Trust for Ornithology, together with the main organiser Natura.
Bringing together a group of experts to present the most up to date research on habitats and bird species. The symposium will be of interest to all birdwatchers, ecologists, and decision makers throughout the island of Ireland.
Each of the main habitat types is addressed and there are presentations on Habitat Management, Climate Change and a synthesis of the main themes for future research.
RDS Members will be admitted free to the Symposium on production of their Membership card – however a separate charge of €10 for lunch will apply, for those wishing to avail of the lunch option.
The occasion of the symposium will also see the launch of an important publication Bird Habitats in Ireland edited by Richard Nairn & John O’Halloran and published by the Collins press.
