Tulip Fest
- 17 April 2012
The next stage of Tulip Fest happens on Saturday with a wonderful day of talks, walks, seminars and food. The day will start at 10.30 am with a seminar in Bellefield House by Eric Breed, the renowned Dutch Tulip Breeder and Photographer who will share his knowledge of rare breed tulips as collected and saved by his father, Kees Breed.
Eric, together with Angela Jupe, will then lead a guided walk around the beautiful walled garden at Bellefield House which features an amazing array tulips, including some specimen species.
Following a lunch prepared by Ballymaloe trained chef, Hannah Ward, the group will move on to the Townhouse Garden in Birr - again for a guided walk.
And the final garden visit of the day, will be the Woodland Cottage Garden on the outskirts of Birr - which will be followed by afternoon tea in the greenhouse. There will be further opportunities to visit the gardens during the week, and the final weekend of the Tulip Fest will feature a Botanical Art Workshop with our artist-in-residence, Kathleen O’Connor. There will also be an exhibition and sale of garden and botanical art by selected artists.
