Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland and Musgrave Retail Partners GB are pulling together in a collaborative project involving Oakland International to offer Irish food producers a competitive supply chain solution to service Musgrave’s UK retail estate.
The scheme, developed between Oakland International and Steve Young, Logistics Manager for Musgrave Ireland, has enabled many Irish producers not currently exporting to the UK, to now bid for substantial new business opportunities, previously too expensive to service due to the inherent high supply chain costs involved.
Dean Attwell, MD of Oakland International commented: “Musgrave have been proactive in working with us to support ways of deconstructing the price barrier of export supply chain costs. Together, we have come up with an all-inclusive case rate offer, which is extremely competitive and is already leading to successful tenders from Irish producers. By using this scheme, producers can sell with confidence, knowing their supply chain costs are fixed.”
The consolidation scheme partnership, between Oakland and Musgrave, enables Musgrave to offer a competitive collection rate from the producer’s depot anywhere in Ireland, consolidating stock at their Fonthill warehouse near Dublin. Producers also have the option to deliver direct to Oakland International’s depot located just north of Dublin, with stock collected from Fonthill or Ashbourne on a daily basis and fed directly into Oakland’s UK depot in the Midlands, orders are picked on a day 1 for day 2 delivery basis into all of Musgrave’s UK based RDCs.
Steve Young, Logistics Manager for Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland, stated: “Exports are seen as a key driver to the recovery of the Irish economy. Irish producers have a great reputation for producing high quality foods and we are pleased to have found an effective way to stimulate exports through our own retail estate.”
