Miracle-Gro Kicks Off Spring Growing Season in Facebook Game

America's favorite plant food to grow FarmVille crops. Miracle-Gro, America's #1 gardening brand, kicked off the 2012 gardening season today with an exciting brand integration in Zynga's FarmVille, where players now can use Miracle-Gro® to grow and harvest their crops. The global gro-a-thon ran recently on FarmVille, the world's 4th largest social game with over 27 million monthly active users, according to AppData.

"Our Miracle-Gro brand is a perfect fit with Zynga's FarmVille," said Tom McLoughlin, vice president gardens and landscaping, ScottsMiracle-Gro. "This integration is a fun, contextually relevant way to engage FarmVille players with the Miracle-Gro brand in the fast-exploding social gaming world. FarmVille and Miracle-Gro meet where real world gardening and virtual farming intersect."

For the gro-a-thon, Miracle-Gro has created a custom farm within FarmVille that walks players through the benefits of using Miracle-Gro in their gardens, and they'll be rewarded with virtual goods for their FarmVille farms in the process. Zynga research shows that eight out of ten surveyed FarmVille players in the U.S. also enjoy gardening at home, and over three quarters of the players surveyed are interested in growing their own vegetables, fruits and flowers.

The Miracle-Gro/FarmVille integration is part of the kick-off of "Hello, First Bite!" – Miracle-Gro brand's digital advertising campaign focused on edible gardening and the celebratory experience of a consumer's first bite from their personal harvest of home-grown fruits and vegetables.
