HortiTrends Weekly Comment and News Digest - January 25th
- 25 January 2013
Where people are reading about your service or products is important for your business. In Everyone Loves a Magazine...But Who is Reading Them? - John Stanley gives an overview of where he thinks the future lies for print. Not as pessimistic as you may think.
We continue our series of job profiles with My Job - Dee Sewell - Owner/Manager of Greenside Up. If you want to know what a proper blog does or looks like, go no further.
Jimi Blake will soon be starting a re-run of his very successful PlantsPerson Course - Hunting Brook Gardens. Interesting he reports that there is increased interest from the DIY/Hardware sector, who know that plant knowledge is key to gaining the customers confidence. The Hardware/DIY sector continue to squeeze the traditional garden centre sector.
Another casualty of the squeeze, being put on the smaller independents is Dunsland Garden Centre & Gardens Cease Trading along with the Appointment of Liquidator: Oldbridge Concrete Products Limited. Both of these businesses had been thriving in their day and hung on for as long was humanly possible. Peter Dowdall put a lot of work into the business but sometimes knowing when to call it a day is the best business decision you can make. Peter will ustilise all of his retail and PR skills as he continues his work with the Celtic Compost group. We wish him well in the future.
