HTA Restructures

As part of its ongoing commitment to provide an efficient and cost effective service to members HTA has restructured its internal organisation. As a result of that process Andrew Maxted is to leave the HTA this month after nine years in commercial and marketing roles at the industry trade association.

"Working with and on behalf of HTA and its members has been an absolute privilege" Andrew commented. "The garden industry is one of the most dynamic I know and it has been a pleasure to meet so many inspirational and entrepreneurial people over the past nine years. The last 18 months, working with Carol Paris, the HTA board and the HTA marketing committee to refocus the association's marketing activities and oversee significant changes to the National Garden Gift Voucher scheme, have been both challenging and rewarding. I am looking forward to a short rest before seeking new opportunities to put my skills and experience to good use."

PR and Market Information functions now fall under the Business Development department, headed by Tim Briercliffe and the National Garden Gift Voucher operation falls under the finance and administration function, headed by Paul Basham. The Regional team and Commercial Manager report directly to HTA Director General Carol Paris.

From 4 March HTA office hours will be extended to 8.30 am – 5.30 pm providing members with greater access to the range of services and resources available to them.

Commenting on these changes HTA Director General, Carol Paris said, "The HTA is keen to move forward and provide the best possible service to our members. 2012 was a very difficult year for all of the horticultural industry and it is important that we restructure to keep pace with the changing environment. I have enjoyed working with Andrew Maxted and thank him for his contribution over the past 9 years. I am confident that our new focus and structure will enable us to exceed the expectations of our members and provide them with the support that they need to develop their businesses in these challenging times."
