HortiTrends Weekly News & Comment
- 10 June 2011
HortiTrends did five days in total at Bloom last week and from my perspective just walking and talking was hard work. Did I care? No. The opportunity to meet our own advertising customers while making some new ones was a very cost-effective way to spend time out of the office. Also we picked up quite a few news stories that will keep us busy for the next few weeks. We also are producing a Bloom 'Garden Build' video for the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown 'Horticulture Department' who will be heavily promoting their range of horticultural courses this year and next based on the big increase in CAO applications to that particular college. We have also included a link to the 5 days of Bloom in Video and also to RTE's take on the event as you can still miss the event by actually being there because you have your work hat firmly stuck on. We will have our own Bloom compilation coming next week.
Young Nurseries are having a mini trade-show (my words) in the nursery this Monday (see article below) Big things grow from small events, just ask the Kildare Growers. All energy and eyes will be now focused on the GlasIreland event. Its success will depend on industry support and Bord Bia bringing some of the Bloom 'Magic Dust' to the nursery sector in particular. A good idea coming from the UK Glee trade show and GIMA(trade association) is a workshop for potential exhibitors aimed at getting the best out of that show.(article coming next week) They need to do something as there is a decline in that show that is frightening.
We have yet to present our Best Exhibitor Award for Bloom as it is proving difficult to decide. It was really a last minute thought but there will be an award announced this week coming to the company who utilised 'Bloom' the best overall, for their business. Feel free to make a suggestion. We can be swayed.
We also do a profile on SuperNemos this week, a great Irish story of research and entrepreneurship coming together to create a market driven product.
This months website statistics: 38,611 page views in the last month on HortiTrernds and that excludes all our social media for business web-estate. A Bounce rate of 0.39% which means that the content provided to our target horticulture B2B audience is ever so relevant.
10,000 visitors per month over all of our websites and social media.
Lots of jobs to be filled in our jobs section of the website which we will touch on next week as we try to figure out what are the issues in our sector and why are companies getting it difficult to find the right or any candidates. Any views?
Its great this week to be able to present A Brand New Poem - The Garden Escapees by Rónán Ó Snodaigh.
Thank you,
Joseph (Editor at HortiTrends)
