Schools Investigate Consumer Buying Behaviour
- 23 April 2012
Loughry Campus provided the opportunity for sixth form students, from schools across Northern Ireland, to become consumer experts for the day as they investigated the effect of marketing techniques employed by the food industry on consumer buying behaviour.
The one-day seminar at Loughry Campus, College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE), provided pupils studying A level Business Studies and/or Home Economics, with an opportunity to examine the changing nature of food retailing. As well as investigating the effect of e-commerce, advertising and marketing strategies on consumer buying behaviour the pupils got practical experience of assessing consumer perceptions of own brand and branded products and of the current issues surrounding food labelling.
The seminar was also an ideal opportunity to find out about the excellent range of career opportunities in the food industry. Loughry has close links with the food and drink sector and all food courses at Loughry offer outstanding job prospects. It is no surprise that the sixth form pupils were keen to check out Loughry courses. With degree courses in Food Technology; Food Management and Marketing as well as Food Design and Nutrition, there is something to suit everyone.
